Day 229 - Project365
Some people day dream about exotic vacations or their favorite celebrity. What do I day dream of? A 100 inch pressure sensitive touch screen desktop. It's a shame that it exists and I can't afford it. I'd absolutely love to have a layout like this. Simply drag the application I want in front of me. I'd always be up to date with everything as everything would be right in front of me. The only downfall to desktop like this is that I tend to put too much shit on my desk. I'd end up having to remove my plate from lunch to get to the internet or slide over my cookies to switch to the pen tool. Although, If I had a desktop like this I would gladly take the extra second to remove my plates, cups and whatnot from the surface.
This idea came to me while cleaning my room. I had cleared the whole desk off and noticed the nice frosted glass surface it had. For the longest time I thought it was a wood surface. Who knew under all that shit there was glass! Ok so I knew it was glass, but it was mostly covered. I'd like to say I will keep it clean but with an empty cup and a bag of Nutter Butter Bites already finding a semi permanent home on top of it. Its safe to say it will soon be back to normal.
I wanted to keep this image as natural as possible as to give the illusion that it could have been a snap shot. The light source is a softbox under the desk. This would give the illusion of the desk actually being the light source. Since the glass is frosted it acted as a second diffuser for the light.
Post production was actually stupid simple. Using the vanishing point tool I laid a grid overtop of the glass and then simply dropped in each screen shot. I positioned them and changed the blending mode to multiply to show through the natural light fall off. I'm sure if this were real the light would be even from corner to corner. However, I didn't have a softbox big enough to cover the whole glass.
If this were affordable I would never get off the computer. The only downfall I could see is bending over and looking down all the time - It might get tiring. Although, i'm sure I could manage!
