Day 159 - Project365

"Dark Despair"

Its hard to come close to the awesomeness of yesterdays' theme of Snow White. Although, the project must go on and on it went tonight as Joyce and I traveled to the marina to sacrifice ourselves to the mosquito queen and her army or blood thirty minions. This small park located along the Saint Lucie River was the location of both day 44 and 45. I wanted to utilize the docks but not make it totally obvious that I was reusing a location. We pulled up and as always there was a City Police car in the parking lot. You'd think that this is for patrol but you'd be wrong. Cops seem to use this parking lot as a place to relax and quite possibly surf Facebook!

Day 159/365 - Dark Despair.

I wanted to bust out thee 'ole beauty dish for old times sake and capture a simple one light image. We started out by walking out to the boardwalk. I was wearing shorts and Joyce was wearing a dress that made me seriously crave coffee and chocolate. It was a light brown dress with a mocha colored grandmas curtain style pattern. With more flesh available than the bugs are used to, they swarmed us like a free buffet in the streets of Ethiopia.

Joyce is a little uncomfortable with dark unfamiliar places and because of that, when I realized that I wanted my tripod I opted to leave her with the gear instead of sending her for the tripod. I told her that if she needed to run, just make sure she ran with my camera!

After the mosquito, human flesh extravaganza and a few Un-remarkable shots I decide to move to another location in the park that caught my eye during my trip back to the jeep for the tripod. We move and setup again at the boat launch docks. This location was much better and the pictures proved it. I set Joyce up on the main dock and I setup on the doc across from the first boat ramp. I had her give me several different looks and I snapped away. Shot after shot I captured and since the blood suckers were not nearly as bad as the boardwalk, we were afforded more comfort and thus, more shoot time.

It was now 11:00pm and as anyone that has shot with me knows. I have a hard time stopping. I love to shoot until my card is full and batteries are drained. Hell, I even bring my computer on big shoots just so I can dump the images half way through. I force myself to stop if only for the sake of poor Joyce, who is sitting on a doc with a dress on. We head to Walgreens for a typical sugar fix for Joyce and then back home where I edit and enjoy a couple Guinness beers.

I had a hard time deciding between black and white and a muted color version. I ended up going with the black and white for a simple reason; I liked it better. Its movie time, as Joyce and I have completely thrown off our sleeping schedule with a few late nights. Last night I watched the entire 3 hours of Brave Heart. The sun was shining before I laid my head down. It's going to take a sleeping pill and an early night to force myself back to a normal schedule. For some odd reason most people work during the day. I always get calls early in the morning. Sometimes I even try to sound like I wasn't sleeping. I have a feeling that most people can tell and silently call me a lazy artist.
