Day 149 - Project 365
Today started off with the idea of a third and final Memorial Day tribute. However, after getting home at 3:30am and not going to bed until 4am. I knew getting up early was a far fetched idea. Instead I opted for an easy day of cupcake making, hamburgers and hotdogs. I even made my own cream cheese icing! I know… I'm a regular Betty Crocker.
After we had a big "cook out" style dinner, Shawn, Jenn and my mother all headed down to the Jetty in Fort Pierce, FL to grab today's shot. They also wanted the Jetty Lounges famous Frozen Rum runners. One is enough to get you buzzed! At 6.00 each they're not a bad deal. In 10 years, they have only gone up 1.00!
While the ladies went off to purchase drinks and get hit on by locals, Shawn and I found today's main star. Troy, was fishing at the Jetty this evening. Hailing from the great land locked city of Orlando, he and his lady friend have traveled all over the East coast fishing. Today was regrettably one of their worst days yet. I informed them it was because they were at the Jetty and things haven't been good since the hurricanes. This is one of the only places that either Shawn or I were ever able to catch anything!
From the second we pulled up and parked illegally in a handicapped spot (We had a sticker! Not mine, but a sticker nonetheless.) I saw the sun setting fast. I knew that dragging out the lights wasn't going to be possible if I wanted to capture the setting sun. I opted for natural light and what better type of shot than a silhouette! I figured it was the best option for the conditions and would also look cool. I've wanted to capture a fisherman against a setting sun and today was my chance.
I used my Tokina 11-16mm Lens and dialed in the aperture manually. I seem to do that even when I'm not using the lights. I've gotten pretty comfortable not letting the camera think for me. In other words…. "I tell that bitch what to do"!
Anyway, after Jenn and Shawn finished their drink we headed back to the car. My mother wasn't going to rush and decided to finish her drink during the entire ride home. She's funny when she drinks!
While shopping today I purchased 4 pints of Guinness. Jenn also brought me 4 Pints! I know have a gallon of beer!! I'll be enjoying it all week long! There's nothing like a gallon of Guinness to remind you of being in Manchester, NH! (inside joke to those who follow the blog)!
I'll now retire to my chambers and prepare to turn in. Perhaps I'll attempt to beat level 4 on the new crack like ipad game, Smack the gugle!! You've got to be fast!
